Rooted in History. Designed for Modern Living.

Inspired by the legacy of the Hojack Line, this 180-unit senior housing community reinterprets the language of rail-era architecture for today’s residents.

Set in the suburban fabric of Greece, New York, the Penn Central Senior Apartments is a 180-unit, four-story complex that provides market-rate housing for an aging population seeking comfort, accessibility, and a sense of place. The site’s adjacency to the former Hojack Line—once a vital link along the Lake Ontario Shoreline Railroad—served as a design catalyst, informing both the building’s architectural vocabulary and its narrative connection to local history.

FORM2 Architecture drew from the typology of historic rail stations, incorporating gabled rooflines, material contrasts, and sheltered entry elements reminiscent of the era. These gestures ground the new construction in its regional context, while modern layouts and amenities ensure the building meets contemporary standards for senior living—prioritizing mobility, light, and social connectivity.

With careful attention to massing and site orientation, the design accommodates density without overwhelming the surroundings. The result is a project that respects its past while serving the future—exemplifying FORM2’s approach to context-driven design with lasting impact.
