A Destination Rooted in Recreation, Culture & Community.
VARIOUS PHASES
A multi-building redevelopment vision transforming the ROC Ice Center site into a vibrant, year-round destination built around regional identity and public engagement.
Located in Perinton, New York, American Place is a comprehensive redevelopment strategy anchored by the ROC Ice Center and radiating outward to activate the surrounding area with new civic, recreational, and commercial uses. The project reimagines the site not just as a sports facility, but as a multi-generational hub—one that connects the community to its history, the Erie Canal, and each other.
FORM2 Architecture’s master plan weaves together seasonal experiences: a central plaza becomes a public gathering space in summer and an outdoor skating rink in winter. A pedestrian trail leads from the heart of the development to the historic Erie Canal, lined with interpretive markers that highlight Perinton’s local and industrial heritage. New construction is organized around visibility, access, and public life, with design gestures that unify the built environment while allowing for programmatic flexibility.
American Place is envisioned as a layered destination—one that feels timeless yet forward-looking, rooted in local narrative but designed to adapt and grow. This ideation phase reflects FORM2’s strength in translating complex sites into coherent, experience-rich places.
